EVALUATION ON NON-INSTRUCTIONAL PERSONNEL                   3.20.2


 

            The-purpose of an evaluation of non-instructional personnel is to improve the performance of the individual, identify the areas in need of improvement, and provide specific suggestions as to how those improvements can be accomplished.

 

            A copy of the evaluation instrument shall be presented to the employee by the immediate supervisor when the employee begins working in the Millis Public Schools.

A written evaluation shall be completed annually prior to May 1 of the school year. A copy of each written evaluation report, mutually signed by the supervisor and employee and which may include a written response from the employee, shall be forwarded to the Superintendent of Schools.

 

            If more than one written evaluation report is required, because of lack of improvement or unsatisfactory job performance, the supervisor(s) shall have the responsibility of completing additional evaluation reports within thirty (30) school days and each succeeding thirty (30) school days until improvement in the job function is deemed satisfactory or unsatisfactory.

 

            A recommendation for dismissal, with supporting evidence, must be submitted in writing, to the Superintendent of Schools. The Superintendent shall decide, based on his investigation, if the dismissal procedure should be presented to the School Committee for proper action.

 

            It shall be understood that all monitoring or observation of the work performance of an employee shall be openly conducted and with the full knowledge of the employee. The use of eavesdropping, public address or audio systems and similar surveillance devices shall be strictly prohibited.

 

            The appraisal instrument shall include performance factors such as quality, knowledge, effectiveness, cooperation, and dependability. Provision should be made for comments concerning contributions made to the system, attitude toward the job, and strengths demonstrated by the employee, as well as areas in which improvement is needed.
