REQUIREMENTS FOR
GRADUATION
5.2.31
All students who attend Millis High School must meet all state and local
graduation requirements in order to earn a Millis High School Diploma.
110 credits are needed to graduate. 80 credits of the 110 must be earned in core
subject areas (English, math, science, social studies, and foreign language).
Credits, course, and service requirements as approved by vote of the Millis School
Committee, will be published annually in the Student Handbook.
Students who have completed all local requirements for Millis High School
graduation but have not passed the state required MCAS testing will receive a
Certificate of Attainment in place of a Millis High School Diploma.
Early Graduation: A student who has completed the requirements for graduation
prior to the end of senior year may be graduated at the discretion of the School
Committee.
Credit for Foreign Study: Students who are away for a term or year to participate
in a student exchange program or otherwise study abroad may receive credits toward
high school graduation when (l) study plans are approved by the school administration
in advance; and (2) the institution where the study occurred submits a record of the
student's work. In these instances, the Principal and student's guidance counselor
will evaluate the work and assign credit for it according to standards prevailing in
Millis High School.
