EVALUATION ON NON-INSTRUCTIONAL PERSONNEL
3.20.2
The-purpose of
an evaluation of non-instructional personnel is to improve the performance of the
individual, identify the areas in need of improvement, and provide specific
suggestions as to how those improvements can be accomplished.
A copy of the
evaluation instrument shall be presented to the employee by the immediate supervisor
when the employee begins working in the Millis Public Schools.
A written evaluation shall be completed annually prior to May 1 of the school
year. A copy of each written evaluation report, mutually signed by the supervisor and
employee and which may include a written response from the employee, shall be
forwarded to the Superintendent of Schools.
If more than
one written evaluation report is required, because of lack of improvement or
unsatisfactory job performance, the supervisor(s) shall have the responsibility of
completing additional evaluation reports within thirty (30) school days and each
succeeding thirty (30) school days until improvement in the job function is deemed
satisfactory or unsatisfactory.
A
recommendation for dismissal, with supporting evidence, must be submitted in writing,
to the Superintendent of Schools. The Superintendent shall decide, based on his
investigation, if the dismissal procedure should be presented to the School Committee
for proper action.
It shall be
understood that all monitoring or observation of the work performance of an employee
shall be openly conducted and with the full knowledge of the employee. The use of
eavesdropping, public address or audio systems and similar surveillance devices shall
be strictly prohibited.
The appraisal
instrument shall include performance factors such as quality, knowledge,
effectiveness, cooperation, and dependability. Provision should be made for comments
concerning contributions made to the system, attitude toward the job, and strengths
demonstrated by the employee, as well as areas in which improvement is needed.
