REASONABLE FORCE

While the school staff is not given authority to use physical punishment, physical
restraint may be necessary for the purposes of defense, removal of students from the
educational setting or in extenuating circumstances.
Staff members may use reasonable force as is necessary to protect themselves from
attack, to protect another person or property, to quell a disturbance threatening
physical injury to others or to obtain possession of weapons or other dangerous
objects upon the person or within the control of a student.
